Life Coaching is About Changing Your Own Life Too
What if coaching wasn't just a profession. But rather a lifestyle. Would that change the way you coach? Or more importantly, would that change your life?
If you're a nutritionist, your diet probably matches what you prescribe to your clients? If you're a fitness coach, you most likely do fitness in your own life. And if you're a hairstylist, you probably make an effort to style and maintain your own hair. If you didn't, people wouldn't go to you. So why should life coaching be any different?
There is a responsibility to life coaching. And I know I'm not supposed to use the word "should", but you should live how you want others to live. You should apply and challenge yourself as you do others. We are not perfect and we're all always going through something, like everyone else in this world. But as long as you're honest with yourself on where you're at with an intention to always lean into the new, that's being responsible.
It's not about watching TED talks. It's a choice to life different. To face your fears. To admit your defects. To be aware of your actions. To connect dots. To search for revelations. To be a part of a community that will challenge and support you. To chase growth, knowing that what you learn through your journey is how you will enrich the lives of others.
And if you weave all this into your life, it won't feel like a responsibility. It just becomes a way of living. What does that look like for you? What adjustments do you need to make so that life coaching becomes a lifestyle. Not just a profession.
Know that you will become potent and highly effective if you choose to see coaching this way. Because the best way to coach others with their life is to live yours according to your passion and beliefs.
I think it's easy to get caught up in the business of life coaching. Building a website. Producing content. Creating a social media following. And we can easily forget to live the way we would like others to.
Life coaching isn't just about changing other people's lives. It's also about changing your own.
